Wastewater Treatment Intergulf maintains a Solid Waste permit with the TCEQ for the acceptance of Nonhazardous Class 1 & 2 Industrial Waste and RCRA Characteristic Hazardous Industrial Wastes. Our pretreatment system is designed to accept wastewaters with varying levels of pH, organics, solids, or metals. In compliance with the EPA’s Centralized Waste Treatment (CWT) standards, Intergulf segregates incoming wastewater into Subcategory B (Oil) or Subcategory C (Organic). Intergulf also separates wastewaters based upon physical characteristics. Below are categories and characteristics of waste and treatment options:
  • EPA CWT Subcategory B (Oil)
  • EPA CWT Subcategory C (Organic)
  • Wastewater with solids
  • Wastewater not amenable for biological treatment
EPA CWT Subcategory B (Oil) – Oily wastewaters are processed through our treatment system utilizing one or a combination of the following processes; equalization, Dissolved Air Floatation, filter press, pH adjustment, and centrifuge. Effluent water is tested to ensure it is within EPA discharge parameters before being sent to Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority’s Bayport Facility for final Biological treatment. EPA CWT Subcategory C (Organic) – Organic wastewaters are processed through our treatment system. The effluent waters are monitored and sent to Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority’s Bayport Facility for final Biological treatment. Wastewater with solids – Intergulf is well equipped to handle wastewaters with high levels of solids. Through our stainless steel pit we are able to separate heavy solids from the wastewater and then send the water phase through the appropriate treatment system. Residual solids will be sent first through a filter press and then to disposal. Wastewaters from sumps, below ground pits, or manufacturing processes that may have up to 60% solids flow easily through our system. Wastewater not amenable for biological treatment - Intergulf’s plant is designed to separate and recycle oil, separate solids from water, and pretreat wastewater to be discharged into a biological treatment system. We are also very efficient and effective at disposing of wastes which do not fit into our treatment system. As a courtesy, Intergulf manages many waste streams that are not amenable for wastewater biological treatment. Whether they are high in non-RCRA metals, high in nitrogen, high in non-haz pesticides/herbicides, etc. we effectively and responsibly manage these streams for many customers.
